The French directory of specialty vape shops that are independent of the tobacco industry
Press release from " Merci la Vape ", a coalition of the associations AIDUCE, SOVAPE, LA VAPE DU COEUR and FIVAPE
NO to the flavour ban, NO to taxes, STOP to denigration and misinformation. Symbolically launched on World No-Tobacco Day, May 31, the MERCI LA VAPE petition has already attracted over 50,000 supporters and nearly 40,000 responses to the questionnaire. The associations AIDUCE, SOVAPE, LA VAPE DU COEUR and FIVAPE are announcing the operation's follow-up:
- The petition remains open until December 31, 2023. The total ban on advertising considerably complicates communication with the general public, but the associations will continue to alert consumers/citizens to the threats and reach 100,000 supporters at MERCI LA VAPE ;
- The questionnaire closes on September 30, so that we can begin our research. The considerable number of responses already makes this the largest survey ever carried out on a population representing 3 to 4 million users in France;
- The first results of the survey will be published on October 31, to coincide with the start of the Mois Sans Tabac
- The white paper on the issue of vape in France and the detailed results of the survey will be published in early 2024 and sent to all decision-makers, members of parliament and government, national and regional institutions concerned with health, safety and public finances

They have no links whatsoever with the tobacco industry, and claim as much in their articles of association and in their actions.

I'm one of the millions of people that vape helps to turn away from tobacco. I want to defend what makes it the most effective aid: the diversity of flavors, affordable cost, objective information on risk reduction.
NO to the suppression of aromas
It's absurd to condemn ex-smokers to tobacco flavoring alone. It's precisely the diversity of flavors that makes smoking cessation easier. The proof: 95% of vapers use at least one other flavor.
Flavors must remain available within a regulated and controlled framework. The manufacture of e-liquids and their marketing by professionals provide the best guarantees of control for the safety of users.
NO to taxes
Overcharging for a smoking cessation device is unfair. Neither nicotine substitutes, nor medications, nor hypnosis, nor auriculotherapy, nor quack remedies are overtaxed.
Taxes should not be a barrier to vaping. VAT on vaping should be reduced to 5.5%, like nicotine substitutes. This would facilitate access to vaping for the most disadvantaged, who are the hardest hit by smoking.
STOP denigration
8 out of 10 French people are unaware that vaping is much less risky than smoking. This perception, which runs counter to scientific knowledge, is keeping smokers in the habit. The denigration must stop. It discourages vapoteurs and smokers who would otherwise find an anti-smoking solution in vaping.
STOP to misinformation
The public has a right to fair, clear and appropriate information on vaping. The implementation of a pragmatic public health policy against smoking goes hand in hand with responsible information.
Faced with the scourge of smoking, which prematurely kills 75,000 people every year in France, vape is not a problem, it's a solution.
When it comes to quitting smoking, everyone should be free to choose their own path, and if they want to, they should be able to choose vaping without hindrance.
I'm against the removal of flavorings, I'm against taxes, and I'd like to see an end to the denigration and misinformation about vaping.

We defend their diversity and potential for development, as well as their free and responsible use, and work with national and international standardization bodies to offer consumers the choice of safe products.
The SOVAPE association is committed to promoting the reduction of risks and harm associated with smoking. Its mission is to monitor information, public health policies and scientific publications.
Association under the law of 1901, recognized as being in the public interest, is involved in reducing the risks of smoking tobacco. Its aim is to help all adults in precarious situations, by distributing free vaping products (personal vaporizers, e-liquids and accessories). La Vape Du Cœur works in partnership with over 200 healthcare establishments on a daily basis.
The Fédération Interprofessionnelle de la vape brings together the entire vaping industry in France, from manufacturers to distributors. The federation's 800 members are independent of the tobacco industry, and account for 70% of the sector's business in France: a specialist organization in harm reduction, and one of France's leading public health players in this field.
