Vaping is not a threat, it's an opportunity!
These are particularly trying times, with the threat of a tax on e-liquids proposed by several MPs as part of the Finance Bill. To date, the PLF has been rejected by the National Assembly, and with it all the amendments adopted to tax vape.
However, the battle is far from over, as the bill will now be examined in committee in the Senate, and then in public session. New amendments to tax vape and restrict its distribution may still be tabled. We're keeping a close eye on this, and we're pressing ahead with our campaign to alert senators.
FIVAPE is working hard to ensure that the voice of professionals independent of the tobacco industry is heard loud and clear, and to prevent the introduction of any tax on vaping.
Whatever the amount of this tax, its introduction would mean that vaping products would come under the aegis of the tax code, rather than the public health code. As a result, health professionals would no longer be able to consider vaping as a tool for designing tomorrow's anti-smoking policies. Without the support of the health authorities, our product category would be irreparably weakened in the face of the tobacco industry...
Taxing vaping means creating a tax on smoking cessation. This is not an acceptable project for society, and we will fight it to the bitter end.
