Newsletter March 2025:

The calm before the storm?

The Finance Bill (PLF) and the Social Security Financing Bill (PLFSS) have now been passed. There will be no vape tax in 2025.

The law banning puffs has also been definitively adopted and published in the Journal Officiel.

FIVAPE and its partners were totally and relentlessly involved in both these issues. Our work on taxes in particular has had a decisive impact, despite the tobacco industry's behind-the-scenes efforts to push through amendments aimed at creating a new tax on e-liquids.

But we absolutely must stay alert!

The principle of a vape tax is set to come up again in the first discussions on the 2026 budgets. In France and Europe, the question of banning flavors is also on the agenda, very seriously. The Plan National de Lutte contre le Tabagisme - PNLT - (National Plan for Tobacco Control) includes a number of initiatives that support these projects, plus "plain packaging" measures that would once again contribute to fuelling confusion between vaping products, which help, and tobacco products, which kill.

More than ever, your support and membership of FIVAPE are essential if we are to continue defending a sector that is independent of the tobacco industry, and guarantees responsible use focused on one priority: stopping smoking.

In a few days' time, we'll be at VAPEXPO, on March 23 and 24 at PARIS EXPO - Porte de Versailles. Join us on the FIVAPE stand - C25 / Allée C - to talk about our businesses and discuss the challenges ahead for our companies.
